My best bet for finding it would be on Ebay or a Yahoo Japan auction. I’ve seen it a few times for sale on those two sites. It will be the same title as my blog title, “Hanaikusa” ( 花いくさ in Japanese ).

Thank you, Andrew, for this post. Your site came up as a referrer site on my blog. The book, Geisha of Gion, has piqued my interest in geisha culture and I’m happy that there is a movie about Mineko Iwasaki. I wish I can get hold of this video here in the Philippines. Do you have any idea where I may order this video online? What’s its title?

Wow ! You’re terrific, Andrew.
I just finished watching part 2 of Hibari’s concert. There is a different ending on YouTube that continues beyond her last song, “Jinseii Ichiro”. It shows Hibari walking down the hanamichi as a chorus sings to her, calling her the immortal bird. Anyway, thanks so much. I am going to watch your other videos too.

Thanks for the Hibari video. I’m wondering if the second part of her Tokyo Dome concert is available? I’ve been looking at parts of it on YouTube. Also, I’ve enjoyed the Kubuki videos. Thanks for those too.

Hi Andrew, thanks for putting this online. I am doing No Dance and Nihon Buyo at Japanese House of Culture and I am looking for a practice CD with the slow Gion Kobu Bersion of Gion Kouta..do you have this music or can you email me a source where to get a file online?
We are rehearshing with our samisen singer of course so she has not got any ‘modern stuff’ like CD..:-)
I bought one CD from Kyoto but this isn’t the full version with all four parts and is played so quickly and badly:-(
Can you help me?
That would be great!

Thank you very much for sharing this, and the Misora Hibari entry as well. I have found blogs devoted to Japanese traditional dance, theater, and culture surprisingly rare on WordPress, as judging from my Tag Surfer. It’s fabulous to meet someone with similar passions.

It’s great that you’ve come upon these interests, these passions, at such a young age. Stick with it.
